the Glenham Fire Department held their 4th annual Junior Firefighter summer Fire Academy

On Saturday July 25, 2026, the Glenham Fire Department held their 4th annual Junior Firefighter summer Fire Academy with 49 students in attendance. They held two sessions session one 8:00 AM to 11:30 AM for rising 3rd grader to 6th graders session 2 11:00 AM to 2:30 PM for rising 7th to 10th graders there was no cost associated what does summer academy. The session was from July 20th to July 25th with their graduation ceremonies on July 25th. Some of the festivities were allowing all the students two ride on the apparatus throughout the district with multiple apparatus. This happened because of the volunteers from the Glenham fire department, Protection Engine Co number 1and Castle Point VA. Some of the activities that the students were taught was search and rescue first aid, crawl on ground following the hose until they came out to the end of it. CPR learning about every tool on each rig and what they are used for breach in the wall using the smoke machine and running the hose up a flight of stairs. On the final day graduation day, the students marched in a parade, given certificates of accomplishment and Cake and cookies. This would never have happened if they didn't have people like ex chief Bob Dross and Firefighter Kayleigh Marron and the many volunteers that helped from the Glenham Fire Department, Pleasant Glenham Fire Department is looking for all to return next year for another year of learning so the students can have a fire in them to start
